Glenn Doman
Pha kabar sobat ? lama tak jumpo… rasanya kangen sekali menyapa sobat blogger semua. Sebelumnya saya minta maaf karena sesuatu dan lain hal jadi tidak bisa mengupdate status blog MasWienNews.com ini. Hampir satu bulan lebih aktivitas sebagai bloggger saya tinggalkan. Sebab kesibukan offline menyita waktu dan pikiran saya dan lagi musim hujan mempengaruhi koneksi internet punya saya. Pada kesempatan yang baik ini saya akan berbagi pengetahuan dengan sobat semua teruta yang berkaitan dengan Glenn Doman.
Glenn Doman adalah seorang profesor lulusan Universitas Pennsylvania tahun 1940 dengan jurusan Physical Therapy. Beliau menciptakan sebuah metode belajar bagi para penderita cedera otak. Yang mengajarkan bagaimana belajar membaca dan berhitung. Dan hasilnya sungguh luar biasa bahkan melebihi kemampuan anak-anak normal. Sehingga metode yang digunakan untuk membantu belajar bagi para penderita cedera otak ini di sebut dengan metode Glenn Doman, sesuai dengan nama penemunya.
Berdasarkan hasil search lewat wikipedia Indonesia pengertian dari cedera otak atau lumpuh otak adalah gangguan kendali terhadap fungsi motorik dikarenakan kerusakan pada otak yang sedang berkembang. Penyebab lumpuh otak sampai saat ini belum diketahui, namun diduga hal ini terjadi karena:
- Bayi lahir prematur sehingga bagian otak belum berkembang dengan sempurna.
- Bayi lahir tidak langsung menangis sehingga otak kekurangan oksigen
- Adanya cacat tulang belakang dan pendarahan di otak.
Sedangkan ciri-ciri bayi yang terkena gejala lumpuh otak dapat diketahui saat bayi berusia 3-6 bulan, yakni saat bayi mengalami keterlambatan perkembangan. Dan ciri umum dari anak lumpuh otak adalah perkembangan motorik yang lambat, refleks yang seharusnya menghilang tapi masih ada, seperti : refleks menggenggam hilang saat bayi berusia 3 bulan, dan bayi yang berjalan jinjit atau merangkak dengan satu kaki di seret.
Jadi penderita lumpuh otak ini merupakan hasil dari proses kelahiran yang tidak sempurna dan bayi yang mengalami cedera otak akan terganggu perkembangan pertumbuhannya. Dan berdasarkan dari kejadian tersebut maka Glenn Doman tersentuh hatinya untuk melakukan sebuah riset. Meskipun waktu yang dibutuhkan tidaklah sebentar, perlu waktu berpuluh-puluh tahun untuk meneliti perkembangan otak anak. Dan hasilnya beliau berhasil menciptakan sebuah metode belajar yang efektif bagi para penderita cedera otak . Dan sampai sekarang metode tersebut masih digunakan, dan dimanfaatkan oleh banyak orang.
Mungkin itu dulu sekilas tentang Profesor Glenn Doman, sebagai awal memulai aktivitas blogging kembali. Meskipun sedikit mudah-mudahan bisa bermanfaat bagi sobat-sobat semua. Happy weekend…
